A replacement tooth needs to both be strong and look natural. If a tooth needs to be extracted due to injury or disease, implants provide a strong, seamless base for an artificial tooth. Depending on your needs, an implant can be fixed (permanent) or removable. If implants are right for you, Dr. Tang will work out a treatment tailored to your needs.
The first step is installing a small, titanium post into the bone socket of the missing tooth. With time, the jawbone heals around the post, anchoring the post to your jaw. Once the bond is formed, another small post is connected to the anchored post. This second small post will hold your replacement tooth in place. Dr. Tang will make a mold from your natural teeth, measuring your jaw and bite and shaping the artificial tooth to match. The new tooth attaches to the connector post, and that’s that. Your replacement tooth will look, feel, and function just like a natural tooth.
